The Isuzu 4JG2 is a four-cylinder, four-stroke diesel engine with a displacement of 3.1 liters (3,059 cc).

It features an inline configuration, meaning that all the cylinders are arranged in a straight line. This configuration helps in achieving a compact design and provides a smooth and balanced operation. The engine is equipped with a direct fuel injection system, which enhances fuel efficiency and improves combustion. The 4JG2 engine has a maximum power output of around 114 horsepower (85 kW) at 3,600 revolutions per minute (RPM) and a peak torque of approximately 260 Newton-meters (192 lb-ft) at 2,000 RPM. The engine's power and torque characteristics make it suitable for both on-road and off-road applications, providing ample power for various driving conditions. The Isuzu 4JG2 utilizes an overhead valve (OHV) design, also known as a pushrod engine. This design offers advantages such as simplicity, compactness, and lower production costs.
