The Nissan ZD30 engine features a cast iron block with a single overhead camshaft design.


It utilizes a direct injection fuel system, which helps improve fuel atomization and combustion efficiency. The engine is equipped with a turbocharger, which provides forced induction and enhances power output. The turbocharger helps the engine generate higher torque at lower RPMs, making it suitable for both off-road and on-road applications.

The ZD30 engine is available in both naturally aspirated and intercooled turbocharged variants. The intercooled version, known as the ZD30DDTi, is the more common configuration. It includes an air-to-air intercooler, which cools the compressed air from the turbocharger before it enters the combustion chamber. This helps increase the density of the intake air, resulting in better combustion and improved power output.

In terms of power, the ZD30 engine produces around 120 to 160 horsepower, depending on the specific variant and model it is installed in. The torque output ranges from approximately 280 to 380 Nm, offering sufficient low-end grunt for towing and off-road performance. The engine's power and torque characteristics make it suitable for a variety of applications, including hauling heavy loads and navigating challenging terrains.

The ZD30 engine features a robust construction and is known for its reliability.
